How do you control yourself when you see a terrile play that costs you either money at a cash table or busts you out of a tourney??

I am still guilty of giving it the verbals when I get donked on, I sort of can;t help myself as I just see red, but I KNOW it's wrong.

We want the casual, bad and horrible players at our table.

how do you stop yourself, or do you do something thats not quite as harsh as "GFY you fkin idiot donkey". or "gtfo you fkin dummy".

Is this just a part of tilt??

I know some people type stuff like "nh wp", but to me they won;t get the sarcasm in your comment, so it's pointless. If i feel I have been screwed (and I do often) I feel I have to say something as I am super annoyed.

Please tell me how you guys deal with it!! Surely I am not the only one who does this...

I kinda just internally sigh then type 'wow, interesting'. Then make a note of the donk, add him to my 'find a player list' :D

lol. I like "interesting". What about if it's an MTT that you have worked hard on for numerous hours an now you are out.... you type anything into the chat?

If a bad play annoys you then your whole poker mindset is probably wrong. I love it when I see bad plays as I know there is value to be had.

I know, but how the hell do you change that mindset. What about in my example of the MTT above?

You are telling me that you feel you are playing really well and then after a ton of hard work, one retard ruins it all and you are happy??? No way mate!

Guess the key is to be playing a lot of tables at the same time and don't be too attached to any single game.

I do often play loads of tables, but ofc you get drawn into the big pots, it's hard not to. Not that many people play so many tables they can;t follow most of the action. I can;t really belive that you never get annoyed??? Are you so detached from the games when you are playing? If so..how?

Try and control the controllables and forget about the rest. Good for all areas of life, you will feel a lot better if you can quit worrying about outcomes you can't control.

It's probably just the way some people are. I very rarely abuse people, although last week I called some German a fishy [censored] about 6 times then eventually gave up when he didn't reply.

I think some people are out of order though, I been on tables where people start spouting stuff like 'I hope you die of cancer' and stuff like that after a bad beat. At the end of the day they are all there to play poker whether they know how to play the game correctly or not, not to be abused.

I try to turn chat off if possible these days aswell. As well as stopping me from abusing people, I don't see anyones abuse of my plays either. In the past this sort of thing has seriously put me off my game so I try not to get involved now

Yeah i keep seeing all these comments about Dying and stuf and they are well out of line. also the one about get aids... ffs. Some people are sick. I don;t go that far at all. I call them about their play and how lucky they are, but thats it.

I wish I could be detached enough to never let it get to me.

I think the worst thing I have ever typed was 'ffs' when sucked out on. I suppose I get internally frustrated but I hardly ever show it on the outside like screaming or ranting, I don't know why, maybe has something to do with my job. I would love to leap over the counter a punch the cr@p out of some of the people I deal with, but I would lose my job so you kind learn self control and restraint, maybe this has manifested itself into my poker, never really thought about it tbh but you got me thinking now.

I usually just shout c*unt then chuckle. Try and worth through it as opposed to finding finding a quick solution.

I never, ever berate anyone. Mostly because it wont change anything, so why invest the energy?

Don't you find after a while Mik that is happens so often you just get used to it?

I've had aces cracked by KQ so many times this month it has almost become standard. It does get to me, I sometimes wonder 'why me', it can almost seem like your cursed. But then I see so much shizz at the tables, happening to other peeps as well as me, that I realise that the reality of the situation is that so much luck is involved it almost detracts from calling it a game of skill. Of course it is, yet ultimately no skill can offset 2 outers hitting out on you etc.

When I read about court cases and the like trying to class poker as a game of skill akin to chess it makes me smile, as you only have to play significant volume to realise it quite clearly is a game of both skill and luck.

If you can therefore accept that it makes it easier to deal with the shizz. What will be will be and all that.

I often take great heart from the fact that I have such a blatant edge over the vast majority of my opposition, I see a donk move and it is encouraging 'this is why I play'.

I also focus on just how much money could be made if I one day ran hot, not just the odd hand here and there, but seriously hot for a protracted period. It may happen one day.

Ultimately, don't let the b*stards get you down and don't give them the satisfaction of knowing it has affected you.

C.

I have very occasionally said stuff in the chat box in the past, it has never done me any good. I can't remember the last time I did it, mainly as I have table ninja constanstly refreshing the info tab now on stars.

I swear and shout a lot when I am playing, it is a bit of a release for me so the tilt doesn't seep into bad play at the tables. I just see it as part of competitive nature and to play my best I need to be really competitive.

If i were you Mik I would turn chat off or get yourself chat banned by the site, nothing good will ever come from berating the fish.

Agree with this totally, although, I struggle to control the red mist sometimes and hurt myself in the process. this has got worse since trying to focus on multi tarb cash, as I seem to go through a session playing well then out of knowhere all my good work's undone in pow, pow, pow, style, when a run of incredible beats sometimes occur. I just sit there trying to get my head round it and play through it. BUT sometimes I just start spazzing out like a spoilt kid!! This is when the damage to my roll occurs.

This is soooooo true if I get hammered by bad players sucking out on me when out priced etc, I'm not going anywhere. Although, I have found the stakes I play 30%/40% of these types of players hit and run when they suckout. Whether out of embarassment or they just want to double through I'm never sure and thats frustrating. Should be a last 6 hand rule on line like at me home games lol.

Although to be fair once you're out of an MTT you're out and you can't extract the value from a lucky donk. Only by playing volume will that even out I guess. So when it hits you deep in an MTT it really is frustrating.

I try to live by this mindset. I always fall out with the missus cos she stresses about redic stuff she has no control over. Why waste time on maybes and what if's!
